Returning from the Dordogne requires a stopover in Bordeaux, whether you're flying out from there or switching trains for a TGV to Paris.  And few cities are worth a couple of days of exploration more than Bordeaux.

So walkable, so stunningly beautiful, and indescribably vibrant in a quintessential European way, Bordeaux is sadly overlooked by most Americans.  History, architecture, arts, food, wine, parks, a river - the list is probably endless.
