Spring comes to the Périgord

We've had nice days and we've had days spotted with torrential downpours and wind that threatens to shove my little Twingo off the road.

But, today everything shifted.  The day dawned beautifully, if a little cloudy and cool, and as Sunday unfolded, so did the promise of sun-drenched days and warm, clear nights.  The kind of warmth that seeps into your bones after being just a little chilled all the time.  Welcoming.  Inviting,  Feels like a deep breath.

So, today a good long walk around the village.  Trying, and not quite succeeding, to capture the large panoramas and intimate vignettes that make up life here in the Périgord.

Sundays are quiet here.  Shops are open in the morning and then closed, for the most part, until Tuesday.  Most everyone has completed their shopping on Saturday and their reveling Saturday night.  Sunday is subdued, with no loud noises (save motorcycles) allowed in the afternoon so people can spend time with their families in peace.
